How epic is Giancarlo Stanton when it comes to tape-measure home runs?

by Cheap High Quality Jerseys on

Indians third baseman Erik Gonzalez came into Friday night’s game against the Twins hitting an even .400 in June. That average took a blow after Gonzalez went 0 for 4, striking out three times and stranding six runners, in the Tribe’s 5-0 loss.

How epic is Giancarlo Stanton when it comes to tape-measure home runs? Here, the Marlins slugger hits a 458-foot home run to dead center off the Cubs’ John Lackey — and it was only his third-longest home run this year.

Rockies (47-29) at Dodgers (49-26), 10:10 p.m. ET — The Dodgers have the second-best record in baseball behind the Astros, but they just can’t shake the Rockies or the Diamondbacks in the NL West. The Dodgers would seem to have the advantage on the mound Saturday night, with three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw (10-2, 2.61 ERA) going against right-hander Tyler Chatwood (6-7, 4.08). But Chatwood has been Kershaw-like in June, with a 1.73 ERA in his four starts.

There’s still a lot of baseball to play this season, but it’s getting difficult to brush off Arizona’s start as a fluke. Not only that, but the team has a major factor working in its favor. If you don’t think Arizona is going to make the postseason, which NL team are you predicting to overtake them? Outside of the NL West, there are only two other teams in the National League with a winning record. The Diamondbacks are 15 games over .500. It’s likely the rotation is going to slow down at some point, although several Cheap Atlanta Braves Jerseys advanced pitching metrics are optimistic about the results so far, but it’s hard to pinpoint a team that could take advantage of a run of poor play by Arizona.

We’ll stay in the same division for our second team. Like Arizona, Colorado has benefited from a productive offense. The Rockies have scored the fourth-most runs in Cheap Football Jerseys From China baseball, and they rank in the top five by R and RBI. Somewhat surprisingly, they have only hit the 14th-most homers in the league (82).

Roy Halladay made a huge impact during his tenure with the Blue Jays, which is why he’ll be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend. Though his path to Cooperstown is up for debate, one reason why Halladay is even in the Cooperstown conversation is because of a chat with a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Halladay took his career to a whole new echelon while in Toronto thanks to one man: Mariano Rivera.

The year was 2008: Halladay already had two Cy Young Awards under his belt and was making his sixth appearance at the MLB All-Star Game as one of the most dominant starters in baseball. You would’ve thought there wasn’t much more a Cy Young winner could learn.

Ferris Buellering is something I, just right now, made up*, but I’m already convinced it’s the best game in America. It’s part scavenger hunt, part roleplaying, part hide and seek, and it’s a game that any NFL team — not just the Chicago Bears — can play.

Only a couple of hundred fans, at most, remained at this point, but a chant started. Softly, at first, then gaining steam. “We want Tebow! We want Tebow! We want Tebow!”

The inning started and the first five Mets batters — most of them wearing numbers closer to 100 than 0 — reached base safely. Every time a Mets player other than Tebow walked out to the on-deck circle, bat in hand, the crowd booed. Nine batters into the inning, the Mets had scored five runs to cut the Marlins’ lead to just two, and the crowd was almost in a frenzy.

It was almost too perfect, right? The Mets could send Tebow to Cheap Atlanta Braves Jerseys the plate with two on and two out, trailing by two runs, and he could tie the game with a double or end it with a home run. The fans were chanting “Tebow! Tebow! Tebow!” with a ferocity rarely Cheap Elite Nike NFL Jerseys seen in the ninth inning of a spring training game.

Turf Show Times: It will take a ‘massive effort’ to fix Greg Robinson

by Cheap High Quality Jerseys on

When the Detroit Lions made the swift move of trading a sixth-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams for offensive tackle Greg Robinson, everyone was taken aback. While many Lions fans were thrilled with Bob Quinn’s aggressiveness for addressing their troubled left tackle situation after Taylor Decker’s injury, others were very concerned about how poorly the former second-overall pick played with the Rams.

To help gauge how Lions fans should be reacting to the news, I contacted “3k” over at Rams blog Turf Show Times to give us the lowdown on Robinson and what went wrong over the past three seasons.

The talent was impressive enough that when Arizona coach Sean Miller coached a USA Basketball team to the FIBA U-19 World Championship in 2015, four of the top six scorers were members of that class preparing for their senior year of high school.

It was obvious even then freshmen would dominate the 2017 draft. All four — Jayson Tatum, Josh Jackson, Harry Giles and Terrance Ferguson — became first-rounders Thursday night.

They weren’t chosen because they were freshmen. They were chosen because they are talented.

Some fans, analysts and even college coaches have insisted for years that players who remain in college for two, three or four years risk being “picked apart” by NBA scouts. This is repeated even though such players as Buddy Hield, Frank Kaminsky, Doug McDermott and Willie Cauley-Stein all were top-10 picks in recent seasons after spending three or four years in school.

There is no perfect answer to this question for any particular Cheap Elite Jerseys player. Some remain in school and develop into first-rounders as they progress, like Denzel Valentine at Michigan State. Some enter the draft and disappear from the American basketball radar, such as Grant Jerrett, who has played 51 NBA Cheap NFL Jerseys USA minutes since leaving Arizona after his freshman year in 2012-13.

In 2014, Andrew Miller emerged as one of the most dominant relievers in all of baseball. In 2017, Archie Bradley has become an elite bullpen arm for the Diamondbacks.

In his first full season in the major leagues, Gallo has hit 19 home runs in 69 games and 232 at bats, going into Monday’s series in Cleveland. The average exit velocity on Gallo’s batted balls is 94.1 mph, tied with Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun for seventh in baseball, per Statcast.

“When he hits a ball, he hits it,” Lucroy said. “It goes a long way.”

Judge, of course, leads baseball in exit velocity, and is someone Lucroy compared Gallo to because of their large frames and prodigious power.

“Judge is a guy, for me, he’s got the power, he’s got the average, he’s got on base. He’s got everything. That’s impressive,” Lucroy said. “And I know Joey’s still working through that, getting there. He’s improved so much from last year when I saw him to this year, and I expect him to get better.”

If he stays relatively healthy — Gallo missed Saturday and Sunday’s games, and wasn’t available to be quoted for this story, with what manager Jeff Bannister called tightness in his hamstrings — he has a chance to hit 40-45 home runs at this pace. Not bad for someone so young.

“He’s probably going to hit for 60 homers one year,” Rangers Outfielder Nomar Mazara told Sporting News. “He’s got that kind of power.”

What he does not yet have is the plate discipline and the contact rate needed Cheap NFL Jerseys USA to be considered a complete offensive player. That, Lucroy and Mazara believe, will come in time. But for now, Gallo’s .194 batting average, .289 on base percentage and 38.4 percent strikeout rate leave a lot to be desired.

As a whole, major leaguer players are hitting for a lower Cheap Eagles Jerseys average, striking out more and hitting more home runs.

The Titans signed wide receiver Eric Decker on Sunday, officially giving Marcus Mariota the most talented group of receivers he’s worked with in his career so far. Mariota’s not the only NFL quarterback to be so lucky this season, either.

Decker was cut by the Jets, a team that may not be tanking but sure isn’t setting itself up to succeed this season. Less than a week later, he signed with Tennessee. He joins rookies Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor, as well as Rishard Matthews and tight ends Delanie Walker and Jonnu Smith.

The signing made perfect sense for the Titans. Bringing in Decker means they have a reliable veteran presence in the receiving corps who can contribute right away and help the rookies develop. It’s great news for Mariota, who may be able to take his game to the next level with these offensive upgrades.

Which other teams have given their quarterbacks the best group of receivers they’ve had to work with so far in their careers?

We can’t fully know because, unlike the Cardinals, we’re not inside the Astros’ database, but from the outside it looks as though Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and his aides just created a mashup of Earl Weaver and Billy Beane:

Go heavy on pitching and power. Houston (50-25) was fourth in Best Site For Cheap Jerseys the majors in ERA and first in home runs and slugging percentage through June 23.

Draft college hitters. Six are on the current 40-man roster, led by Cheap NFL Jerseys Paypal 2015 first-rounder Alex Bregman. And Bregman was a gift, because he was the compensation for Houston not signing high school pitcher Brady Aiken with the first pick in 2014.

Constantly tweak the roster, hunt for bargains. The Astros used an average of 47.4 players from 2012 to 2016; the number has steadily decreased as the team has improved. Four Cheap Dolphins Jerseys current players came off the waiver wire. Two were minor league free agents.

Max Scherzer’s on a Hall of Fame path, but far from a cinch

by Cheap High Quality Jerseys on

The past several seasons have been something of a renaissance for Max Scherzer.

The 32-year-old Nationals ace, who’s won two Cy Young awards since 2013 and recently notched his 2,000th strikeout, looks to be in the midst of another fine season. He’s jumped out to an 8-5 record with a National League-best 2.09 ERA while his Nationals lead the NL East.

On Wednesday, Scherzer took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Marlins, which prompted a beat writer to point out that Scherzer’s actually taken no-hitters at least six innings in 13.4 percent of his starts with the Nationals. Scherzer’s been so good, it didn’t seem like that outlandish of a stat. It was just one more thing for a pitcher at his peak.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said despite the brevity of McCaffrey’s one-day appearance during minicamp, the team was excited about his presence in practice as his teammates got an up-close look at him.

“We’re really excited about what he can do and his abilities and things he’s going to help open up for his teammates,” Rivera said. “I’m excited for what it means for Jonathan (Stewart) and for Greg Olsen, Kelvin (Benjamin) and (Devin Funchess). It’s one of those Cheap Dodgers Jerseys things that he’s going to take a lot of pressure off of people as well.

“Probably the biggest thing is we’ve given our quarterback another weapon, another tool.”

In three years at Stanford, McCaffrey recorded 21 rushing, 10 receiving and two passing touchdowns, in addition to two more as a punt and kick returner. The school put him on the fast track to stardom, but it also delayed the start of his offseason training with his new team.

Stanford’s academic calendar is organized by a quarter system, hence the school’s mid-June commencement, and NFL rules prevent rookies from participating in offseason workouts Best Quality Cheap Jerseys until their respective school years end.

NBA Draft 2017: Five first-round sleeper picks who could surprise

by Cheap High Quality Jerseys on

The first round of the 2017 NBA Draft came and went with little drama.

For the most part, teams played it by the book when making their selections. There were a few minor trades surrounding the blockbuster that sent Jimmy Butler to the Timberwolves, but that was it. Other rumored deals, such as the Pacers’ shopping of Paul George, will wait for another day.

As always, a number of intriguing players fell to the middle and end of the first round.

Here are the 2017 NBA Draft’s top first-round sleepers:

Luke Kennard, SG, Pistons (12th overall) — Detroit desperately needed shooting help. Kennard is the man for the job. Taking Duke stars is never a bad idea toward the end of the lottery, and Kennard could make a positive contribution as a rookie.

Would players get too carried away and end up fighting and/or injuring each other? Almost definitely. But whew, I want to be there to watch.

And it’s not like it’s any more dangerous than the NFL. The offseason usually pits a team’s offense against its defense with players from both sides battling each other for roster spots and jobs. Why not double down with an offense vs. defense game of Bo-Taoshi? — Adam Stites

Monopoly (Jets only)
The Jets are in for an awful season, set to bottom out in 2017 and find their quarterback of the future at the top of the 2018 draft. What better way to do that than by assuring they lose every single game of the upcoming season?

A weeklong Monopoly tournament would serve as the perfect backdrop to get the majority of the team suspended. According to Hasbro*, the average time between unboxing the little pewter terrier and making threats against other players is a mere 47 minutes. Nothing would ensure the Cheap Dan Marino Jerseys No. 1 pick faster than the litany of disciplinary action that would follow seven days of America’s most Best Quality Cheap Jerseys torturous board game.

There are a trio of quarterbacks at the top of the 2018 draft class

by Cheap High Quality Jerseys on

Marshall, who signed with the Giants in March after 11 seasons with the Broncos, Dolphins, Bears and Jets, insists he has not looked at New York’s 2017 schedule in order to pinpoint players with whom he’d like to swap jerseys. He says that would be “taking it to another level.”

Instead, he’ll do what he has always done. When he decides he wants a player’s jersey, he’ll contact his opponent’s equipment manager before the game and arrange the acquisition.

That said, there’s a good chance New England’s equipment manager will get a call before the Patriots host the Giants in Week 4 of the 2017 preseason.

That is, unless Brady gets this message before he and Marshall meet again Aug. 31.

There are a trio of quarterbacks at the top of the 2018 draft class, led by USC’s Sam Darnold, who is considered the early favorite to be the No. 1 pick. Both SB Nation’s Dan Kadar and ESPN’s Todd McShay pegged Darnold to be the top pick next spring, but both slated him to the Cleveland Browns in their respective mock drafts.

At this rate, that pick could easily belong to the Jets.

With Decker gone, the wide receiver corps is another reason to be convinced the Jets are on track to crash and burn. Devin Smith and Quinton Patton are on injured reserve, Jalin Marshall Best Place To Buy Cheap Jerseys is suspended the first four games, and Robby Anderson is likely to be suspended, too.

In 2011, there was a “Suck for Luck” campaign on the internet. Fans hoped their favorite team would be the ones to play so poorly that it ensures the No. 1 pick and the chance to take Stanford’s Cheap Cycling Jerseys Andrew Luck. It started before the season began and was tracked on a weekly basis.

There isn’t the same amount of hype around Darnold as there was Luck, but the incentive is similar. Why continue to be a middling team that misses out on the top player in the class when it only takes a few roster moves to skip ahead to the front of the line? It’s not like winning in 2017 was a doable option, anyway.

Winning usually doesn’t come right away for expansion teams.

by Cheap High Quality Jerseys on

It was the second start in a row Arrieta (6-5) hasn’t made it out of the fifth inning and the fourth time this season he hasn’t made it into the sixth. In fact, he has only made it to the seventh inning in one start this season.

The 2015 Cy Young Award winner owns a 4.64 ERA this season as he struggles with his control and the Cubs are once again under .500 at 33-34. Arrieta currently leads MLB with 12 wild pitches, a category he also led last season.

While the NL Central title is still in reach as the Brewers are just 2 1/2 games out in front of the Cubs, what isn’t in sight for the Cubs at this second is a world title. They will need Arrieta to channel his inner-All-Star form and right now they don’t have him, or at least they don’t have the man that dominated like he did the past three seasons.

Winning usually doesn’t come right away for expansion teams. The Panthers and Jaguars somehow had just one losing season each before making conference championship runs in their second seasons, but that’s the exception to the rule. The more likely result for Brooklyn would be something mirroring the three consecutive losing seasons the Browns had between 1999 and 2001, or the five straight losing seasons of the Texans from 2002 until 2006.

After all, the Beats wouldn’t have much of an option at quarterback. It’d be bad enough if they decided to dive on the grenade of a pricey quarterback nearing, or bound for, retirement like Romo or Jay Cutler. Another option would be someone like Nick Foles. No thanks.

Their best choice would be to go discount shopping on the free agency market and get a cheap starter like Brian Hoyer, Robert Griffin III, or Colin Kaepernick.

Building an NFL roster takes time and, unfortunately for Brooklyn, the team would be at the bottom of the league for a while. Luckily for Maclin, Decker, and other NFL Best Place To Buy Cheap Jerseys players, the Beats don’t exist and an expansion team in the league isn’t in Cheap Custom NFL Jerseys the foreseeable future.

Marshall said in May he intends to play just two more years before retiring from football. Giants quarterback Eli Manning, 36, is also approaching the end of his career but the duo is hoping to go out on top. Marshall has recently reached out to Manning to review the Giants playbook.

The Braves were widely reported to covet Vanderbilt right-hander Kyle Wright heading into the draft, but there seemed to be very little chance that Wright would still be around when the Braves’ pick rolled around. See, Wright was projected to go No. 1 overall to the Twins in most mocks in the days leading up to the draft. But when Minnesota went with prep shortstop Royce Young, that cracked open the door, and when Cincinnati and San Diego picked prep stars at No. 2 and 3, too, that meant the Braves were going to have an opportunity to draft either Wright or Louisville’s Brendan McKay, another guy who was a serious candidate to go No. 1. The Rays went with McKay, which has to thrill Tampa Bay fans, and the Braves snagged Wright. Couldn’t have played out much better for either of those clubs.

The Astros should have a happy fan base, too. Houston wound Cheap Custom Jerseys up Best Place For Cheap Jerseys with J.B. Bukauskas, the polished right-hander from North Carolina who was expected to be a top-10 pick, possibly as high as No. 6 to the A’s. But Bukauskas’ final start for the Tar Heels was a bit of a disaster, as he failed to make it through four innings against Davidson in the NCAA Tournament. He still had one hell of a season for UNC, and he still has all the tools that had scouts drooling since he arrived in Chapel Hill. It’s hard to see that hiccup against Davidson as anything other than a great break for the Astros. The draft evaluation folks at said Vanderbilt outfielder Jeren Kendall has the best combination of tools of any college position player, and he was ranked as the No. 6 draft prospect. So, yes, the Dodgers have to be thrilled he was still around for them to pick at No. 23.
